A self-contained venue

The Dorothy Hodgkin building is located next to the Chancellor’s Central and has five large lecture theatres capable of holding up to 230 delegates. The entrance foyer is an ideal space for event registration and doubles up as an area for refreshment breaks and buffet lunches. Dorothy Hodgkin can also be used as an over-flow facility for events taking place at Chancellor’s Building.

Professor Hodgkin – a little history

In 1964, Professor Hodgkin became the first and only British woman to win the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her determination by X-ray techniques of the structures of biologically important molecules.

In 1988 when Professor Hodgkin gave a lecture at Keele, the University named the main lecture theatre in the building after her. In 2002, the building was fully refurbished and Professor Hodgkin’s eldest son and family visited Keele to unveil a plaque officially naming the entire Dorothy Hodgkin building in honour of her.

Recently refurbished

In 2019, Dorothy Hodgkin underwent a complete refurbishment giving a modern, airy feel to its key conference space. With the latest AV technology installed, this great space has new LED lighting designed to provide the perfect learning environment whilst maximising energy and carbon savings.
To complement the auditorium, two new meeting rooms were added, making Dorothy Hodgkin a perfect self-contained venue within the university campus offering a mix of tiered and flat floor space for conference organisers.

This building has a range of meeting spaces across two floors with lift access and is within close proximity to the Chancellor’s Building.
